Charlie Smallbone brings his creative vision to Fired Earth

Charlie, founder of Smallbone of Devizes, has come on board to help with the evolution of Fired Earth’s beautiful kitchens – including the much-loved Bastide collection.

Initially Charlie will be working on design developments, innovations and new features across the range.

The Bastide, New England and Jura kitchens are made by Fired Earth’s sister company, Grange, in France and Fired Earth is proud of its use of sustainably sourced wood and its support of local furniture craftsmen. Fired Earth has 58 shops throughout the UK, including more than 20 which feature extensive kitchen displays.

Charlie has a long-term association with Fired Earth – in the 1980s he was a shareholder in the company – and shares the company’s values of beauty, style, craftsmanship and practicality, together with the ongoing use of responsibly sourced materials.

He said: “For some time I’ve been looking to create affordable luxury in the kitchen. Fired Earth offers the perfect opportunity and is uniquely placed to do this, both in terms of manufacture and through its 58 shops. Together we’ll be looking to extend the current ranges, which I’m looking forward to immensely.”
