Exhibition Series I

The Great Exhibition of 1851 and the Festival of Britain in 1951, conceived to mark the centenary of the earlier celebration, brought cheer to a nation beleaguered by hardship.

Following the lead taken by the Victorians in 1851 – who ensured work from all nations was displayed as a celebration of modern innovation – we are thrilled to launch the Exhibition Series tile collections.

Series I is made up of a range of decorative wall and floor tiles inspired by the period around the Festival of Britain and its aim at being ‘a tonic to the nation’.

The tiles, which are largely informed by designers active during this mid-century period (largely 1933 – 1965) have been chosen by key members of the Fired Earth team to reflect our values of authenticity and beauty, but with a delightfully retro twist.
