Fired Earth’s Moderne kitchen by Charles Smallbone wins top interiors award

The award – presented at a glittering ceremony at the British Film Institute in London – is awarded to the best overall product in the interiors market. House Beautiful editor Julia Goodwin said: “We were unanimous in our decision that the winning product is at the heart of the home. Stylish, sophisticated with incredible care and attention to detail, this is an investment buy that will last a lifetime.”
The award was accepted by William McGrath, chief executive of AGA Rangemaster Group, which owns Fired Earth. He said: "Working with Charles Smallbone, and using our own Grange furniture factories, has taken us into the fitted kitchen market with an offering that has been recognised by this award as being outstanding but at a reasonable price. To win such a prestigious award from the whole editorial team at House Beautiful is a tremendous start to what is an important development for the Group."
Charles Smallbone – who was unable to attend the awards ceremony – said: "The Editor's Choice Award goes to the best overall product within the interiors market and I'm totally delighted that the Moderne collection has been chosen. I set out to design for Fired Earth a product that looks great, but is ultimately defined by the quality of detailing and the price at which it is sold into the market. This award gives me a real feeling of validation."
Rob Whitaker, Trading Director at Fired Earth, said: "I’m delighted Fired Earth has been recognised with this thrilling award. We have been working hard to provide inspirational products at prices customers love and Moderne is a great example of this. It complements our tile and paint range fantastically and is perfect alongside our Group appliances, like Aga and Rangemaster."
Moderne is Fired Earth’s first fitted kitchen collection and has been launched with a complete design and fitting service. The collection is built around a simple and practical design, which draws on Charles Smallbone’s expertise in kitchens, offering solutions that work well in both contemporary and traditional homes. Made from beech and oak veneer from sustainable sources, and with a range of painted finishes, the Moderne collection is a new concept in affordable luxury. The range takes in elements you would expect to see in a bespoke kitchen and makes them more widely available.
Quality is key to the Moderne collection. Hand-crafted in France exclusively for Fired Earth by its sister company, Grange, close attention has been paid to clever detailing and accessorisation. The materials used in the Moderne collection are of the very highest quality. The work surfaces and splashbacks are available in a selection of granite and marble finishes. The collection is built to last and, importantly, not to date. The Moderne kitchen is available in a choice of 12 colours from Fired Earth’s paint collection, which can be mixed and matched to create unique schemes. Pieces from the range can be customised with a number of interior accessories and lighting options available.
Notes to editors The kitchen is currently available to order from Fired Earth’s Marylebone showroom. There will be a design and fitting service initially available only within the M25 area. While Moderne is Fired Earth’s first fitted kitchen collection, the company has three freestanding collections – Bastide, New England, and Jura.
