Description
This is a cross cut travertine, which means horizontal slices of rock (as though looking down onto the rock). Cross-cut travertine offers an installation with wonderful individuality. A spectacular display of compacted fossils gives this travertine a remarkably beautiful speckled appearance. The complexity of the surface detail in this tile gives it a unique appeal. Extensive colour variation is a feature. Vibrant shades exist across this mineral rich travertine. Significant colour variation and unique speckled markings and veins will occur in this natural product. These different hues are formed from the various minerals laid down by springs.
Cavities exist throughout the body of travertine. Holes are likely to appear during its life as a floor/wall tile. The extent of cavities varies greatly within and between tiles and offers individuality. This is a defining feature of travertine.
Travertine offers flexibility to create a unique floor or wall either by laying tiles of similar hue next to one another to “move the shades” from one part of the room to another, or they can alternate lighter with darker tiles to “create a checkerboard effect”.
