Name: Maudie Holmes
Store you’ll find me in: Sherborne in Dorset
Job title: Team Leader & Colour Consultant
How long have you worked with Fired Earth?Three and a half years
What’s the best thing about your job?
I love helping customers create their dream home and being surrounded by so many beautiful products all day! I also love that I get to be creative on a day-to-day basis, from helping clients with colour and tile schemes to styling windows and in-store displays.
How would you describe your design style?
Neutral, natural and calm. I’m a self-confessed lover of beige and white with lots of texture and natural materials such as stone, linen and wood.
When working on a client’s home what’s your top piece of advice?
Don’t think you always have to follow trends. I like to work with clients to create a space that feels authentically them, using their personal style, how the space will be used and the feel they’d like to create as the grounds for a scheme, rather than pursuing the latest colour craze or tile design. That’s why I think our collections are so well thought out, there’s something for everyone.
Do you have a favourite project you’ve worked on?
RecentlyI’ve been really enjoying working with clients from all over the country via virtual consultations. It’s such a tricky time to be choosing an interior scheme so it’s been great to be able to offer this service and help clients create their dream homes still, just from afar.
What are your top three favourite Fired Earth products and why?I love our whole paint collection but in particular of coursethe neutrals. I have Flake White throughout my home and I just adore it’s warm, aged look and how it changes with the light throughout the day.
Our Stonelustre tile range is beautiful, I love that it’s handmade in England in small batches. Being a lover of neutrals, my favourite is the Ivory colour, it’s so simple but has so much character with its rippled surface and speckled glaze.
I have a soft spot for our Fitzrovia bathroom collection with its old-fashioned charm. It’s simple yet beautifully formed and I love that there’s a cloakroom basin option so even the smallest of bathrooms is catered for.
Have you used any Fired Earth products at home? if yes, what are they?
I have usedpaint from the Fired Earth collection throughout my home includingApres Ski, Flake White and Wax Myrtle, which all work beautifully with our old stone walls. I also have the Forecast Wight wall tiles in my bathroom in the square format – the rustic edges really suit our ‘characterful’ cottage and its wonky walls!
What do you like to do when you’re not working?
I love being outdoors either in my little gardenor going for long walks by the sea or in the surrounding Somerset/Dorset countryside. We’re welcoming a spaniel puppy into our lives very soon so can’t wait to explore more with her too!
Maudie and the team are really looking forward to welcoming you into our showrooms and helping you with projects large and small.
