Tip 1

One of the biggest decisions when it comes to wall tiles is whether to go for patterned or plain. In a smaller room, you might choose patterned floor tiles and plain ones for the wall. Or you could opt for a feature area or shower niche where you use decorative tiles while the rest of the room is kept plainer.

Tip 2

A fun trend we’re seeing in bathrooms is the use of patterned tiles inside cabinets, so you only see them when the doors are open. Another way to introduce further pattern is to tile the wall behind a sink from floor to ceiling rather than just a splashback.

Tip 3

In kitchens, using gorgeous tiles behind open shelves is a great way to create a look all your own.

Tip 4

If you go for a plain tile you can make it more interesting with the way you lay it. Herringbone or basket weave patterns offer a nice way to make a plain tile more contemporary and interesting.

Tip 5

Gloss wall tiles will reflect the light, so are a great choice for darker or smaller spaces. If you have a tiny room you can also choose very dark tiles for dramatic effect.

Tip 6

Stone is a great choice for walls, but you need to consider the surface the tiles will be used on as weight is a important factor. For example, if you have a plasterboard wall you’ll need a smaller tile.
