Keep your applicator loaded with paint. Rollers, for example, only contain enough paint efficiently to cover about one square metre before reloading. If the applied paint is too thin it will show lines and look streaky or blotchy.



Consider back rolling. This is a technique where, after applying paint to an area, use a lightly loaded roller to go over the area again rolling in the same direction. This smooths the paint in the same direction and gives a more even finish.
