Outdoor porcelain tiles are the most practical choice for UK patios. Porcelain is frost-resistant, low-maintenance and dense enough to handle British winters. Look for a slip-resistance rating of R11 or above: it's the standard recommended for exterior use in the UK. Large-format outdoor patio tiles work particularly well on open terraces, keeping the look clean and the grout lines to a minimum.
Outdoor porcelain tiles are denser and less porous than ceramic, so they're more resistant to frost, moisture and staining — making them the more dependable choice for most outdoor floor tile applications in the UK. Outdoor floor tiles are perfectly suitable for indoor use. Running the same tile inside and out is one of the simplest ways to create a sense of continuity between spaces.
